Police Officer Saves Man In Wheelchair From Oncoming Train

A Lodi police officer has been deemed a hero for saving a man in a wheelchair from
an oncoming train on Wednesday. This happened at 64 East Lodi Ave. at round 8:45 A.M.

Officer Erika Urrea was riding in the area and saw the man in a wheelchair that was
stuck on the tracks. She noticed that the railroad crossing arms started to come down
and saw that a train was approaching. She immediately exited her patrol car and began
running towards the man. As the train was approaching them, she was able to pull the
man out of the wheelchair and they both fell back onto the ground. She risked her life
in order to save the 66 year old disabled man off the tracks with seconds to spare.
The male suffered a leg injury and was taken to a area hospital.

In a Facebook post, the Lodi Police Department said "Her actions prevented a tragedy
today. We are extremely proud of Officer Erika Urrea and her heroism.
