Former Glee actress Naya Rivera is presumed dead from drowning at Lake Piru on Wednesday
evening. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office continues to search for her body in Lake Piru
but so far haven't been successful in locating it. The 33 year old actress was reported missing
after her 4 year old son Josey was found in a pontoon boat by himself. The search for Rivera
has now turned to recovery as she is presumed dead. The murky waters of Lake Piru have
made it difficult for Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials. The search continues on the
north side of the lake, where her rented pontoon boat was located. Lake Piru remains closed
while authorities continue their search for Rivera.
On Thursday, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office released a video recording from the security
camera at the boat launch when Rivera and her son Josey arrived at Lake Piru. The video
shows Rivera arriving in her black Mercedes G-Wagon, walking through the parking lot then
departing the dock in the pontoon boat and travel north in the lake.
On Wednesday, Rivera posted this photo on Instagram with the caption "just the two of us"
with her son Josey.
Recently, Rivera appeared on the YouTube Premium web television show "Step Up: High
Water" that was based on "Step Up" film series that premiered on January 31, 2018. She
was married to actor Ryan Dorsey, who is the father of Rivera's son. They were married
from 2014 to 2018.
In 2016, Rivera released the book entitled "Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing
Up". The book recounts her successes and missteps, urging young women to pursue their
dreams and to refuse to let past mistakes define them.
