Longtime LSU Gymnastics Coach Retires After 43 Years

Today, LSU Gymnastics Coach Sara "D-D" Breaux announced her retirement after
43 years as the leader of the LSU Gymnastics program. She dedicated her life
to coaching LSU and to more than 200 gymnasts over the years. Under her tenure
since 1978, the program had over 800 wins and 8 NCAA Championship Finals
Appearances (2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). 6 Southeastern
Conference Championships35 consecutive, NCAA Regional Appearances and 30
NCAA Championships Appearance.

She wanted the best for the program and was instrumental in advocating for the
state-of-the-art gymnastics training facility that opened in February of 2016.
Her top priority for LSU gymnastics student-athletes was their work in the classroom.

Breaux was the longest tenured coach of any sport in Southeastern Conference
history. She was names National Gymnastics Coach of the Year 2014 and 2017. She
was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.

The Donaldsonville, Louisiana native attended Southeastern Louisiana University,
where she was apart of the gymnastics team for two seasons (1972-73). She later
transferred to LSU in 1976, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees.

Breaux will become an ambassador for the LSU athletics department during her
retirement. LSU's Jay Clark will become the third head coach in school history
knowing that he has some big shoes to fill.
