Block Party In Veterans Heights Area Erupts In Gunfire

A very large block party in the Veterans Heights area erupted in gunfire Sunday
afternoon. Over 100 people were in attendance and could be seen scrambling in
social media videos as gunfire ranged out over the crowd. The police department
received the call of gunshots being fired at 4:35 P.M. in the 2600 block of Acron
Street. The block party was non permitted becuase the city had denied it's
request. One person arrived at an area hospital to be treated for glass shards to
their body after they were seated in their vehicle when it was hit by gunfire. That
person was treated and released Sunday. No one was seriously injured by the
gunfire. This is a ongoing investigation by the Kenner Police Department.
